Taking the time to make development faster, ultimately saves you time in the long run. Admittedly, when you're under the crunch and you've got that solution deadline looming, you don't always have the luxury. Well, never fear, I've made a tool I use for myself and I've decided to let you have a copy (provided your a subscriber). The tool is a GREAT time-saver, in my opinion, because it allows you to move through your solution, or even multiple solutions, in a more fluid fashion. If you're the type of person who's always interested in saving time, then watch this video and learn how this tool might be something you can't live without! If you have suggestions then you can always email me or post comments. Details: Released - 8/6/2008 / Size - 30.42 MB / Length - 16 min

. Hey Matt, this is great. I love the one-click access to Define Fields. Can't wait to see where else you go with this as far as filtering, favorites... this project and the responses we're going to give you will be a tutorial on Scope Creep! Useful as hell. Thanks again. dave . . Layout Manager Rocks.

. Hey Matt, great new solution and as you said "a real time saver"! It's funny sometimes how you do the same things over and over again without realizing you don't have too. This solution shows us again about thinking through the process and not just do it the same way because that's how they do it in New York city... New York city! Oh one thing I'd add is step by step instruction on how to set it up for your own solution. That way if you missed something in the movie you don't have to go through the movie again to get it. Good Stuff Matt, Harry . . Great concept!.

. Hey Matt, I love it - it seems great! However - I deleted one of the layouts in a database - but the portal still shows that layout in the list - however it's going to a totally wrong layout when clicked on. How do I update that layout list to be accurate (though it got a new layout I created - but did not eliminate the deleted layout). Sandy . . Great concept - how about for a video library?? hint hint.

. Also - I can't resist - this is awesome for file layouts and such. But I really use my subscription and your videos a a major learning tool - and find it so odd that a FileMaker Guru such as yourself does not provide a database listing of your videos. You have so many - it would be awesome to provide it in a database format - that's categorized / searchable / so that we can keep track of which videos we've watched / technique files we've downloaded where they are / ranking for ourselves as far as priority / etc. There's just so much that would make the video / learning of this site so much more valuable if we could keep track of it. I know the initial technique file you could provide would just be a snapshot and then we'd have to keep it updated - and I know I can develope this db on my own - and started to - but just had to get back to 'work' on my real FM database development. Anyhow - love the layout manager - I look forward to using it! Sandy . . Extraordinary.

. Talking about a time saver, this is a great concept and tool. Thanks a lot. The solution itself is worth the cost of the subscription. Best regards, Ralf . |

Awesome...
One thing I am thinking of adding would be the ability to group multi file solutions together under one SolutionName then when looking at the portal / list see a three level hierarchy in one portal Level One: Solution, Level Two: File, Level 3: Layouts. Using disclosure triangles on the Solution/Files to show hide layouts for each file. And would also implement a way to open /close the entire solution too.
