6 Tips for Awesome UI Design

Here's a collection of some free tips about making things happen within your FileMaker UI Design. Whether you're using the Theme Studio or not, you can really accomplish some nice UI design if you know how to fully leverage FileMaker's tool set.

In the video you say that we should create gradient bars very wide and then drag them smaller.
This will result in a graphic that e.g. would be 40k in size. However, if you do the opposite, I mean make it only 2 px wide and then drag it larger, you will not see any pixelation as it will just repeat itself. Just the same thing that you would do when designing web pages. But you will get a graphic that will only be e.g. 1k instead.
This sounds like it wouldn't matter that much, but in reality it does when using slower WAN connections or even worse, designing to FMGO. Especially for FMGO on iPad it is important that you keep graphics to an absolute minimum as it has trouble drawing even the simplest graphics.
I did a little test for iPad, replacing 4 gradients that were 450 px wide originally to 2 px wide, that were dragged to 450 px. And there was a notable difference in the speed of drawing the window.

I agree and disagree, there is a noticeable speed difference...however, you definitely see degradation of the image quality.
